Technology, See: Fear of, and, of Course, Kitty Cats
I haven't met with my class this past week because I've been holding individual conferences with my students. Tomorrow, we meet as an actual class again, and I'm going to take up their first papers of the semester, and then introduce our next unit. Then we're going to watch a movie! (I know; I'm the best teacher ever.) I found I enjoyed holding conferences with my students, as one-on-one work is more befitting to my personality than being a circus ringleader, a role which, honestly, still makes me nervous each time I have to reprise it. Even so, with the movie and all, tomorrow will find me providing minimal instruction, so why, I asked Dominic, do I still feel so anxious about it?
Because you're going to be handling electronic equipment, he said. And I said, Dang! You know me so well!
For it's true. I shall, tomorrow, be negotiating a beast named Smart Cart. I could have ordered a simple TV and DVD player, but I thought the Smart Cart (basically a computer on wheels) would be a fun alternative because it has a projector, and my students would be able to see the movie all big-like, just like in the the-a-ter!
Anyway, let's hope I can get it to work tomorrow. Moving on!
Mia has pink eye.
What's even sadder than the fact that Mia has pink eye, is the fact that this photo was taken a week and a half ago when she first contracted it in her right eye. We took her to the vet, who gave us eye cream to squirt in her eye twice daily, and we squirted away faithfully until it cleared up about a week later. The very next day she woke up with her left eye all pinked up. Oh, silly Mia.
Luckily, this brand of pink eye isn't communicable to humans or other cats, but that just leaves me wondering how exactly she got it in the first place. This is just the latest ailment tacked onto Mia's growing list of sicknesses. In the past two years we've had her, she's had a yeast infection in her ears, fleas, tapeworm twice, an upper resporitory infection, and now pink eye.
Are we terrible kitty parents?
